Welcome Wagon - Review in Advertising category from Chicago, Illinois
Avoid at all costs!!! Despite the name, Welcome Wagon is anything but welcoming.
As a small business, we signed on after hearing their lofty promises. Well, nothing came of it. Zero!!! We called to cancel the marketing arrangement and were told it would be cancelled the next month.
Six months later, a collection agency began hounding us!!!
Ripoff company with zero results. Don't fall for their marketing pitch.

We have been advertising with them for several months and haven't gotten one customer from it. They even charged us for a couple of ads that they never actually placed in their book.
Total scammers and they won't let you break your contract at all if you're not satisfied. Complete waste of money.
Welcome Wagon is not honest and does not produce leads promised
Our art center agreed to work with welcome wagon for promotion to newcomers. When we discovered that they could not give us email addresses we told them the information was useless to us and we wanted to terminate the contract They said we had to run for the year we as we signed up. But, at the end of the year they continued to deduct $450 a month from our bank. They said I had initialed the back of the contract for automatic renewal.
Such friendly people - oh now we have to pay for another year - no. We stopped payment with our bank - now they are dunning us.
I feel like they stole our money and we got nothing for it.

4 Months In - 109 Houses a Month - Zero Response
We thought Welcome Wagon was a great idea. Actually, my business partner thought welcome wagon was a great idea. I thought it was a waste of money and that mail advertising is dead, but agreed to it.
4 months later, after supposedly sending 109 postcards a month to 6 surrounding towns, not one person has even mentioned it. I own a consignment shop and so new home owners are our ideal customer as they need to furnish. The card offers 20% off... this should be a layup.
The suspicion started when I noticed that their invoice was billing us for the same amount of houses every month without any change or fluctuation. So you're telling me that the same amount of people move in every month? or are you telling me that you're sending them to the same houses over and over? How do I know these houses even exist? These will be the questions I ask our sales rep tomorrow when I tell her how I think this is all *** and that i'm going to put a freeze on their withdrawals until they can prove otherwise.
Stay Tuned....
Wish I didn't answer my door. Welcome Wagon is a scam.
I had a woman recently come to my door (I did not contact Welcome Wagon) ask me personal questions and got my name and phone number out of me. I'm clearly an *** to offer my phone number because ever since I did I have been getting soliciting phone calls from businesses trying to sell me things. This is absolutely NOT okay Welcome Wagon! Your company should be ashamed of themselves for using people to do this.
The woman did not tell me my phone number would be sold to solicitors or I would have never given it to her in the first place.
DO NOT give your personal information to Welcome Wagon....bunch of scammers!
Wish I never answered the door.

STAY AWAY!!!!
Do Not use this company, They lie and promise leads and I have not seen one in almost a year. I called and asked if there was anything they could do, They told me there was nothing they could do and that I can not cancel my contract or they would send me to collections.
They are dishonest and tell nothing but lies. Please do not use them. Save yourself the trouble and turn away.
The contract Can not be broken. Lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies
Welcome Wagon did not deliver and gave false contacts
I contracted with Welcome Wagon for their introductory 1 year of advertising. Not only did I not receive ONE SINGLE response from the supposed advertising this company sent out on my behalf, but when I used their "mailing list" of homes in the area for a separate mailing, 1/2 of them were returned to me as undeliverable!
This is certainly more than a coincidence that 1/2 of the addresses I paid for turned out to be fraudulent.
I was able to cancel my contract with them once the full year expired, but I wish I had not wasted my money in the first place. What a way to swindle a small business out of much needed advertising dollars!

Worst experience ever. I'm a small business owners and tried these welcome wagon, NOT EVEN ONE CUSTOMER CAME WITH THE COUPON.
RIP OFF.
Welcome Wagon- Buyer Beware---doesn't work for our business
In 6 months, we have not gotten one customer for our business, not one person has come into the showroom and mentioned the ad in the Welcome Wagon booklet. We even had several addresses returned when we mailed out our own information from the list they gave us!
We are paying a great amount of money each month and can't get out of their standard 1st year-1 year contract. Read reviews before you sign with them!!! Please read the reviews and consider the consequences of it not working...we were too optimistic..unfortunately!
Our business is and has been wasting a ton of money on Welcome Wagon. Huge, huge waste!
No contact numbers for people on list
My company spent 12 mos throwing money down the drain since we were unable to follow up on the list of newcomers due to the lack of phone numbers. I had two clients from all of the households that were sent offers.
I feel that the list was probably not even people who had moved to the area from other places. I had used welcome about 20 years ago and had received good results.
When I cancelled my contract, I told them about my concerns. They seem uninterested in what I had to say.
Advertising Review
I had signed up with welcome wagon and never received a single offer back. They over charge for nothing.
They are un helpful and ridiculous to deal with. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone.
Paid for advertising and they never delivered
Signed a contract paid and got an envelope from them in my house but my business was not featured ! Still getting charged for this service and can't get an answers from them .
Thieves ! They do not call back this was a big waste of time and money .
I am a small business that could of used this money somewhere else and get some advertising for it . If you ever encounter anyone from this company don't get mad at them maybe the sales people don't know what is really going on and don't know how this company steals from the customers
Trying to cancel "contract" since 12/12. Still charging my account in August 2013!
Have called many many times and talked to different people and they all promise to cancel and NOT charge me any more this has been going for EIGHT months!!
Reason for cancellation is I have gotten ZERO response from their contacts! As a matter of fact, I have gotten 3 calls from people wanting their names OFF ANY list!
I hate them, they never return calls! Promise Promise! They are rude and very poor business people. I also could Never ever ever reach the person how initially scammed me.
This is an absolute scam I firmly believe it.
Can not stand them. I am also writing to better business bureau!
Very annoyed!
At our appointment with our sales representative they made it seem like we would be getting lead after lead especially when about 60 books would be going out a month. They talked the company up and made it seem like a great opportunity. So we signed up thinking their "Book" would be going to new home owners. Sadly however months later we started noticing that our customer lists had many many repeats and addresses were incorrect. We tried to cancel our contract however we were told that their was nothing we could do about it.
Also we were so foolish to listen to the sales representative but when you sign the contract you can either give your credit card number or you can give a blank check. The sales representative was so keen on having us give a check and said it was the best way. We never thought nothing of it so we went ahead and gave them a voided blank check. Well now we cant cancel with our bank because we never used our card like we originally wanted to. It all makes sense now why they wanted a voided check. Sneaky, dirty and unethical is what they are!
RUN fast and RUN far away from this company.
Welcome wagon
I started one year ago, dealing with Tobi Murphy.I was told that this would be a great business growing option.Despite the "alleged" quantity of homes this was sent to I only recieved one call the entire year.I have done multiple forms of marketing none of which were neither anywhere near the cost of nor the ineffectiveness of welcome wagon. After about 6 months I contacted Tobi regarding my concerns and all she could offer me was the obvious...change your promotion/ad.I will continue to caution anyone from using this company. There are plenty of other options that proved more profitable for a much less cost.

I honestly thought Welcome Wagon was a relic from the 70's and 80's. Can't believe they are still around.
Are you loopy? Welcome Wagon doesn't get addresses from knocking on your door.
No such thing. And for those of you bothered by the cost, it's has to be the fairest price out there. It's not about getting instant sales, it's about developing relationships within your neighborhood, it's about cultivating a clientele. That's why it's a year contract, because it matches the design of the marketing strategy.
It's not about wam bam here's 50% off, it's about Hillary, welcome to the neighborhood, this is the service we provide.
If your sales rep didn't explain this to you, that was failure... but the grass roots marketing model is absolutely brilliant and works to build long term clients.
You must work for them.
I second that statement lol
I'm sorry you feel that way. Welcome Wagon is an excellent company who cares about their employees and it's customers.
